What's wrong with a four-piece rod?

I have bought a fly-fishing rod.
I have the option of four piece or two piece.
Of course, four piece is more convenient because it packs away smaller. But there must be some problem with a four-piece rod otherwise everyone would get one.

I am thinking of getting a four-piece 6 weight 9ft for river fishing.
I have the option of a two-piece eight weight 9ft.

The information on the river i plan to fish said 5-7 weight is ideal, so 6 is best right? but is it okay that it is four-piece?

Help me find some basic information! Any and all input is wanted!?

Can you identify a motor cruiser in recent BBC TV series?

I was watching a BBC mini series Three men In A Boat on Sunday (Australia). A white cabin cruiser around 30 ft was briefly featured. I’m trying to identify this boat. Here some details:
I have no idea what episode it was. I only saw 15 minutes, however it was the episode where there was a fireworks display at a castle. Just before the powerboat was featured, one of the cast went fly fishing.
The boat was a white aft cabin cabin cruiser around 30-35ft. It looked like a production boat from the UK around the 70′s 80′s, but maybe newer. It was pretty much fully enclosed for the colder British climate and as far as I could see, it was inboard powered. Does any power boar enthusiast know the boat manufacturer or any other information? If you didn’t see the show, please don’t waste your valuable time guessing from the limited information I’ve supplied.

Sorry, I never recorded the show so I can’t direct you to a photo.

Fishing while cloudy?

Hi;

I’m looking for general tips on fishing while cloudy.

-I can’t fly fish.
-I live in Alberta, plenty of pothole lakes, atypical to find deeper lakes inside an hour’s drive.
-I fish mostly Pike, but will be getting lures for brook and rainbow trout, as well as perch.
-typically fish from a canoe, but do some shore fishing as well.

I need information on what kinds of lures to use, for instance, do I use darker lures on cloudy days, or shinier ones on cloudy days? what works for the type of fish I fish?

Pretty new to fishing, any tips would help alot

How do you Fly Fish for Largemouth BASS?

I see fly fisherman use very thick, bright colored line. I know that the thickness is necessary because all of the weight comes from the line itself. The only thing I am confused with is how this works for bass. I hear people always saying that the bass will not bite if the line is to thick or visible. Well, doesn’t catching them on orange thick line contradict this? What lures do you use to catch them on a fly rod? Please I am very interested and any information will help.
To the first answerer, and any others who think of answering the same way, I am not asking about the components of the fly rod. I want to know about the details on catching specifically BASS on them. I would also like to know about lure selection for this species and why the thick, bright colored line doesn’t spook them.

Trout Fishing Information?

Going to Gatlinburg in a few weeks and I want to try trout fishing. Do you mainly use a fly rod? I have one that I use for bluegill but not sure if it is strong enough for trout. I know any kind of live or dead bait is not allowed so I’d like some info what are some good flies or whatever to use.

Fly fishing Pole questions?

i can not find any information on this rod that was left behind when my great grand father died, It is a very old 8-9 foot bamboo fly fishing rod in good condition. The logo label on it has worn a bit but i think i was able to make out what it said for the most part.. Looks as it said Angel Fish Brand than under it had a picture of a angelfish and under that said Tokyo japan, well every search tactic i have tried on the web has lead me no where and i cannot find any information on it at all as the year the kind of bamboo or how much it cost or worth anything today.. Is there any place that you can search vintage fishing poles?

Anyone have any links or websites for information on flying fish?
