Fly Line AFTM Question: Would it be okay to use a 3# weight fly line on a 4/5# weight fly rod and reel?
Chadd: I’ve just bought a nice 4/5# weight fly rod and reel combo, but fly line wasn’t included in the deal. My old rod is a 3# weight and I have several lines at that particular weight which were pretty pricey, so I don’t want to waste money buying 4/5# line if I can use my 3# weight line, and from what you say I should be okay, thanks!
New fly rod and reel?? Help!!?
I need a suggestion for a rod and reel that will really wow my boyfriend for Christmas that is in the 0 range. He is current using a redington red start..from what I have found this is a really inexpensive rod for beginners.
I have only been one time, and loved it! Needless to say, I still know nothing about the equipment, other than what I have read. He is very good and I want to get him something that will play to his abilities. He is comfortable with a 9′ rod and he really only has fished for rainbows, both small and large, and small mouth bass.
Please help! I’m running out of time and I don’t trust sales people
is this fly rod and reel combo good?
I’m looking to get this rod and reel combo. It’s called the scientific Angler rod and reel combo for panfish and I’m wondering if this would be a good beginner for trout that are about 12-16 inches long. Here’s the link.

I don’t recall much about December 7, 1969. It was my 11th birthday and I’m sure we had the usual party, my parents and their friends. (I didn’t even have a party with my friends until about my 15th birthday) I can’t say I know why, it was just that way. Aunts and uncles, secretaries and siblings, that was the guest list.
do recall getting a very nice spinning rod and reel. It was one of my dads old ones he salvaged from the hurricane rubble. He pain-stakingly disassembled each reel we recovered, rinsed and soaked them, then put them back together. Better than new.
As if it were surgery, he laid out each pin and spindle, bearings and cogs, then meticulously reassembled and oiled each reel. Fishing was personal. He had an arsenal that would make Bill Dance jealous. Freshwater, saltwater, fly, offshore. Even cane poles. Separate tackle boxes for each type, too. So yeah, it was a real nice fishing rig he gave me.

New to fly fishing and need some gear?
Hey i live on vancouver island and want to get into fly fishing. I want to fish for steelhead and trout in the rivers and lakes as well as coho in tidal waters, what type of setup would you recommend for a beginner I have already purchased waders and shoes and all the accessories i need, im just not sure on what rod and reel to get, as well as line weight and tippet. I was thinking of a 5w or 6w line with like a 2x or 3x tippet. I understand how line weights and tippet strengths work, i just want some second opinions on what to buy before i buy. I have around 200$ to spend (give or take ) and would like something saltwater proof aswell. Thanks ( and i have a rod 9 foot rod that my dad gave me a while ago thats nice just a little dated so i can use that if the reel is more expensive or both wont fit in my range, but i still need a reel) Thanks

What's the best store or web site to buy fishing tackle from?
I live in Queens NY and i got into fishing 2 years ago. I bought a saltwater fishing rod and reel from a bait shop near a popular fishing site in Queens. They set me up with a PENN CV6000 reel and a TSUNAMI TROPHY SURF rod. I like the rod and reel they work well together and look good too. Now i want to get a fresh water rod and reel a baitcaster reel with a nice rod and a fly rod and reel so i will have one of each kind 3 rods and reel’s in total. What store or website has good quality tackle for a good price?
