Trout Fishing Information?

Going to Gatlinburg in a few weeks and I want to try trout fishing. Do you mainly use a fly rod? I have one that I use for bluegill but not sure if it is strong enough for trout. I know any kind of live or dead bait is not allowed so I’d like some info what are some good flies or whatever to use.

What is the best way to catch trout in a North Georgia river?

I have been fishing since I could walk (mostly saltwater) but I have never been trout fishing before in a mountain stream. From what I hear, trout fishing is very tricky and requires a lot of skill and patience. I will be fishing in the Toccoa river in North Georgia.

What type of tackle should I use and what type of bait? Lures? Worms? Flies? How should I fish for them? What tactics should I use? I will be using a light spinning rod and I have chest waders as well. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am looking to buy my husband a nice-but affordable-fly fishing rod for his birthday.?

We are both avid fishermen, but really only farmiliar with spinning rods, fishing for bass and pike. We just got a little place on a trout stream and I want to learn how to fly fish with my man. Any suggestions for two people just starting out? I don’t want to invest a fortune because we still want to fish the lakes a lot too.

New to fly fishing and need some gear?

Hey i live on vancouver island and want to get into fly fishing. I want to fish for steelhead and trout in the rivers and lakes as well as coho in tidal waters, what type of setup would you recommend for a beginner I have already purchased waders and shoes and all the accessories i need, im just not sure on what rod and reel to get, as well as line weight and tippet. I was thinking of a 5w or 6w line with like a 2x or 3x tippet. I understand how line weights and tippet strengths work, i just want some second opinions on what to buy before i buy. I have around 200$ to spend (give or take ) and would like something saltwater proof aswell. Thanks ( and i have a rod 9 foot rod that my dad gave me a while ago thats nice just a little dated so i can use that if the reel is more expensive or both wont fit in my range, but i still need a reel) Thanks

Sage Z-Axis Fly Rod – Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters

The Z-AXIS Fly Rod! Mr. Wizard is back and talk about pressure! You know the design team at Sage was sweating some serious bullets when they looked to replace the XP. For more than six years the XP fly rod series has been the industry standard by which fast action fly rods are measured and now it has been replaced. Enter the Z-Axis. We know you’re going to be completely awed by this Sage fly rod series! These rods are lighter and although they generate the fastest line speed of any fly rod, are easier to cast (if that is possible) than the XP models. The added advantage of the extreme line speed is accuracy and control of your fly. If you want to talk trackability…You are going hear more cliches than you can shake a stick at (we couldn’t resist just one) about this rod series but just remember, if you want the lightest, most accurate fly rod on market, then reach for the Z-Axis. As Sage says it in one word “Magic”. To purchase this rod go to: www.flyfishingoutfitters.com

What size fly would be appropriate for saltwater fish (red drum and speckled trout specifically)?

My whole life I’ve been doing inshore saltwater fishing with spinning tackle. I’ve always heard of people flyfishing for redfish, speckled trout, stripers, etc. (by the way the river I fish is predominantly speckled trout and redfish). Flyfishing looks fun so I found a good rod and reel for a good price, but I need some flies.

Google and Youtube has helped solve a lot of my questions in saltwater flyfishing. BUT I can’t seem to find out what size fly would be good. I typically fish in spin tackle with hooks around the 2/0 to 4/0 sizes. But all these websites and stores have flys in the 1 to 4 sizes OR a 1/0 to 3/0. So what would be good for regular flies? shrimp imitations? poppers?

And any tips and pointers would be great too. Give me your email or myspace. Love talking to fisherman about the sport.

Thanks for ya time:)
